Chain hunger strike of PHE employees ends | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 12: Chain hunger strike of PHE employees and workers for their long pending demands ended here today after 11 days. The strike was held under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association. Protesters were demanding wages at the rate of Rs. 125 per day for all workers, regularization of daily rated workers rafter every five years on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem and transfer of fourth class employees back to their sub-divisions. During the protest, the protestors urged the state government to settle their long pending demands as early as possible. They further said that of the sate government as well as PHE department would not settle their demands; they would be go on Kam Choro Hartal from April 20 through out Jammu region. Provincial General Secretary of the association Subash Verma while addressing the employees alleged that the present authority has lost control over the department. He said that the PHE workers have been demanding minimum wages Rs. 125 per day for their survival Besides Omkar Sharma and Rattan Doshi, other leaders who addressed the gathering included Babu Singh, Surinder Kumar, Vijay Singh, Chuni Lal, Lal Chand, Ram Lal, Bansi Lal, Mohan Singh, Swaran Singh, Yoginder Sharma, Mohd. Shafi, Ram Lubhaya, Manzoor Ali, Ram Parkash and Ravi Kumar. |
