Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 12: Suspecting foul play in the mysterious death of a scribe of national Hindi Daily Amar Ujala in Srinagar yesterday, Kashmiri Pandits have demanded a thorough probe into the matter to ascertain the facts.
In their separate statements the KP organizations have urged the Government to order a CBI probe into the mysterious death of scribe in view of recent warning of terrorists to attack the journalists in the Valley. ``We suspect a foul play in Ashok Razdhan's death and it does not appear to be a suicidal case'' said Ramesh Manwati a protagonist of Panun Kashmir.
He said the relatives, friends and family members of Razdhan as well as his colleagues don't believe it to be a case of suicide and there is every possibility of the foul play in his death. Only a thorough investigation can reveal facts about it, he added.
Mr Manwati said that the PK will take up the issue with Press Council of India (PCI), State Government to press its demand for the independent probe into the mysterious death of scribe. This is not the isolated case of such killing but for last couple of years four Kashmiri Pandits disappeared in a mysterious was in Kashmir Valley and till date their whereabouts are not known. Besides there are no whereabouts of the six Sikh's including an Executive Engineer who disappeared from Valley. The entire Sikh community is perturbed over the disappearance of their community members but till date the Government failed to locate them, he added.
Manwati said friends and relatives of slain scribe said Dhar was a very bold persons who would never stoop to such a level to commit suicide. They are suspecting a conspiracy in the death and term the story of suicide is not based on facts.
The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief Kundan Kashmiri has also demanded a through probe in to the mysterious death of scribe in view of the recent threatening of militants to scribes in Valley. He said this is an eye opener for those KP leaders who have held the meetings with separatists including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Moulvi Omar Farooq in Sriangar.
Kashmiri while taking a serious exception to the meeting of the KP leaders with the hardliner and moderate Hurriyat leaders said that this is a total betrayal with the community. ``These leaders have no locus standi in meeting the Hurriyat leaders on behalf of the community as no one has given them the mandate in this regard'', he added.
Kashmiri cautioned the community leaders about the dangerous gameplan saying return and rehabilitation in Kashmir on the mercy of Hurriyat will prove dangerous for the community. He cautioned the KP leaders also to read the writing on the wall before going meeting the separatist leaders on behalf of the community.
The Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD) has also supported the stand of PK and KPC in this regard saying that no body has mandate to meet the separatist Hurriyat on behalf of the community. These leaders must know that situation is not conducive for return. Moreover return by seeking Hurriyat's support will be inimical to the community interests in future, he, added.
A DSK spokesman said that the pundits will return on their own terms and conditions and they will not return on the terms and conditions set by Hurriyat.
