| 151 Bn wins handball trophy in CRPF meet | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 12: Host 151 battalion clinched the zonal level inter-battalion sports meet of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) outplaying 76 Bn in the final played at Preet Nagar locality of the city, here today.
In the well contested title clash, 151 Bn virtually snatched the win on a last minute goal thereby making it 11-10 the final score on board. Earlier, the title clash witnessed many ups and downs throughout the 50-minute game.
Earlier, in the handball semifinals, 151 Bn trounced 33 Bn 14-08 while 76 Bn outplayed 74 Bn 17-16 in a neck to neck fight. Quarterfinals: 33 Bn bt 72 Bn 14-03; 151 Bn bt 06 Bn 10-00; 74 Bn bt GCBT 04-01; 76 Bn bt 152 Bn 06-02.
Meanwhile, the final of the kabaddi between 151 Bn and 76 Bn was in progress when last reports were filed. Earlier, in the semifinals, 151 Bn downed 126 Bn 22-19 and 76 Bn outplayed 121 Bn 44-20. Quarterfinals: 121 Bn bt 06 Bn 36-11; 126 Bn bt 74 Bn 41-30; 76 Bn bt 33 Bn 36-22; 151 Bn bt 72 Bn 41-31.
In the finals and valedictory function, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Operations, Jammu North of CRPF, SS Dogra was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Speaking to the participating teams, the chief guest congratulated the winners and wished success to those lost in the competition for next time. He praised the host 151 Bn for their successful conduct of the events. Later, Commandant (AOD) of 151 Bn, Deputy Commandant, Pardeep Singh Kailey presented vote of thanks. Second-in-Command of 76 Bn of CRPF, S S Upadaya was among those senior officers present. |
