| BSP to hold protest demonstration, dharna on Jan 29 | | | JAMMU JAN 26 To press its demands for modification in SRO 294 and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in toto, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to hold one-day protest dharna and demonstration outside Exhibition Ground here on January 29. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here today. In a handout Dr Sat Paul said that the proposed protest march after passing through main bazaars of Jammu city would culminate at Raj Bhawan where a memorandum listing the demands would be submitted to the Governor. He said the Government had agreed to review the Reservation Act 2004 and SR0 294 and regretted that despite assurances nothing has been done so far. The party also demanded that the recruitment roster should be considered as seniority roster for promotions and the poor among the upper castes, ALC, and RBA be given horizontal reservation according to population. There should be no short listing of candidates and all those who apply for the posts should be allowed to appear in the interview. The party also felt the need for giving away the existing practice of conducting viva-voice and suggested written test for all categories of posts. Those who attended the meeting included Yash Paul Bhagat, State President, Tulsi Dass Langah Vice President, Krishan Basotra State General Secretary, Raj Kumar, Some Nath, Dr Gafoor Ahmed, Makhan Singh, P C Dansalia, Ayudhya Kumar Manawa, Puran Chand Verma and Puran Chand.
