16 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers held

JAMMU, Apr 13: Two persons were early this morning apprehended by police at Jakheni in Udhampur while they were trying to smuggle 16 bovine animals to the valley.
Additional SP, Udhampur, Abdul Jabbar said the smuggling bid was foiled when, acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck (8569/JK02AC) at Jakheni early in the morning.
After the cops recovered 16 animals from the truck, they seized it and apprehended two persons who were travelling in it.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Aslam, son of Bashir Ahmed ofRagora, and Sushil Kumar, son of Soudagar of Bari Brahmna.
They were booked under section 188 of RPC and 3 of PCA.
