Rajouri Day celebrated with nationalistic fervor

RAJOURI , Apr 13: Rajouri Day today was celebrated with nationalistic enthusiasm in collaboration with effort of army, civil administration and locals.
A colourful programme on this occasion was organized in the main Shaheedi Sathal situated in Gujjar Mandi chowk in which senior army, police and civil administration officials saluted the brave soldiers and men of soil. Rajouri Day is celebrated every year on 13th of April to mark freedom from the tribals who attacked the border district November 26, 1947 and it was April 1948 when Indian army reached Rajouri and finally took over the control of Rajouri after a good fight. Since then every year 13th April is celebrated as Rajouri Day. On one hand army organise the major programme on this day while civilians as well as police and civil administration take active part in it. Today Army organized the main event on 'Shaheedi Sathal' at Gujjar Mandi Chowk. The event was attended by Station Commander and Commander of 25 Artillery Brigade, Brig TK Chawla along with several senior army officials and SP Rajouri Mubassar Latiffi, Addl SP Mohd Shabir Chowdhary and other police officials as well as civil govt officials attended this programme. Speaking on the occasion speakers said that 13th April is a proud day for the people of Rajouri as it was the day when the Rajouri people were freed from the clutches of the Tribal attackers after selfless sacrifices made by the then locals as well as brave soldiers of Indian army.
