PIB needs more than technology Ms PDG! | | | Early Times Report jammu, Apr 13: While the Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Neelam Kapoor was enumerating plans to upgrade the systems and put technology to use, she overlooked the fact the Bureau had failed miserably at least in Jammu and Kashmir in informing the people about the programs and flagship schemes of the Union Government. The Bureau which is an important arm of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has been entrusted with an important assignment. Through its offices in all state capitals, it is expected to disseminate information regarding initiatives of the government to the people with the help of local media and also highlight visits of the Ministers and other VVIPs in different parts of the country. But, even as the Principal Director General vowed to use technology to upload all such initiatives, footages of visits of the VVIPs on the Youtube for wider reach and propagation, the state bureau of the PIB has existed in isolation in the winter capital. The complacency and in difference of the Bureau can be gauged from the fact that it did not care to circulate even the details of the visits of VVIPs in the state to the local press. Many important announcements with regards to national events, notifications of national level examination, recruitment drives etc. have never reached to the people or the local press from the PIB and the local media has been striving hard to get such information of vital public interest from other sources. Before the principal director general makes the bureau tech savvy, she probably need to imbibe in it a sense of responsibility and work ethics in it. |
