Govt fails to make J&K interlocutors' report public | | | agencies New Delhi, Apr 13: It took just a year for the interlocutors appointed for Jammu and Kashmir to give their report suggesting a political solution to the dispute. But far from acting on this report, the Centre has failed to even make the report public six months after they had received it. The Union Home Ministry's veil of secrecy over the report has not helped matters. After a Jammu and Kashmir newspaper published the purported report last year, a national newspaper followed suit on Thursday. The ministry promptly dismissed the contents, saying the report was "baseless". But government sources confirmed that the published pieces have the correct contents of the interlocutors' report, which asks for a case-by-case review of all the central laws extended to Jammu and Kashmir since 1952. |
