Complete shutdown in Kargil against Gilgit Baltistan massacres | | | Early Times Report KARGIL, Apr 14: A complete shutdown was observed here today in protest against the bloodshed and massacres in Gilgit Baltistan. The call for the shutdown was given by Anjuman-e-Jamiyatul Ulima Asna Ashriya (Islamia School Kargil). All the shops and and other business establishments were closed to express their solidarity with the people of Gilgit Baltistan. People from all villages of Kargil assembled at Islamia School, Kargil, carrying black flags and placards. They were raising slogans against Pakistan and Gilgit Baltistan administration. Later, a procession was also taken out which passed through the main bazar and Lal Chowk before culminating at Islamia School chowk. A condolence message was also extended to the effected families. Speaking on the occasion, Nayim Imam Jumma, Hujattul Islam Sheikh Hussain Mukaddas appealed to the union government to raise the issue at international forum and act as a representative of the people of Kargil. He also appealed to the President of India to intervene in the matter and pressurise Pakistan to stop such killings in future. Mukaddas said if Pakistan could not give protection to the people of Pak occupied Gilgit Baltistan, it should hand the territory to India where they would remain safe. Murtaza Khalili appealed to New Delhi to save the lives of its citizens who were in the occupied Gilgit Baltistan. |
