NH closed for hours in protest, another body fished out from Chenab | Ramban road Tragedy | | Early Times Report Jammu Apr 14 : The vehicular movement on Jammu Srinagar highway was paralyzed for hours after people held protest demonstration against administration for not holding search operation to fish out bodies of the deceased from river Chenab even after passing of over 24 hours.However, the traffic was resumed after SP Ramban Anil Magotra assured for early search operation. Meanwhile, in the search operation a body of woman was recovered from Chenab that has been identified as Shahida Begum. Her body was found in the scrap of the vehicle that was taken out from river by pick up crane while rest three bodies still are untraceable, however the search operation is still in progress.SP Ramban when contacted said that there was delay in search operation due to fast water current. Pertinent to mention here that five persons, including three of a family, were killed when a Tata Sumo (JK02T-0632), skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab near Ramban on Srinagar-Jammu highway, late Friday evening. A woman and her two children were among those feared dead, while one of her daughter survived with critical injuries. Police said the ill fated vehicle was on its way from Ramban to Tatarsoo when it met with the accident on the outskirts of the Ramban township. Five persons were traveling in the ill fated vehicle while those feared killed have been identified as Shahida Begum her daughter Rizwana and son Shahid of Tatarsoo and driver of the vehicle Tanveer Ahmed. Sahiba the daughter of deceased miraculously survived in the mishap as she was found in the gorge with multiple injuries and later was shifted to District Hospital Ramban. |
