Vakil plays typical Congress man | Hails Sonia, lashes out at PDP, NC | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 15: Playing a typical Congress man, former Minister and AICC member, Abdul Gani Vakil hailed Sonia Gandhi and the Nehru family and lashed out at both PDP and NC while addressing a gathering at Shangus, Anantnag yesterday. Vakil rejected PDP's Self Rule Document and NC's Autonomy Proposal as possible solutions to the Jammu Kashmir problem. According to him, the issue could be solved when all the stake holders including the separatists sit together and take into consideration aspirations of all the regions of the state. "Congress will not allow Kashmir issue to be used for political exploiters. Kashmir is not a commodity on which dirty politics can be played", he said while addressing a gathering at Shangus, Anantnag yesterday. Resolution of Kashmir issue, he said, is enshrined in collective wisdom of the parties concerned. "This is something that the Autonomy Document ands `confused' Self Rule Proposal lack", he said. Like a devout Congress man, Vakil hailed Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for what he called their historic steps for ensuring peace and development in the state, he urged all the political parties to be part of a joint strategy for addressing the issue. Vakil went a step ahead to hail Nehru. According to him the people of Jammu Kashmir have full faith in the leadership of Nehru family. "Our accession with India is symbolized by Nehru family", he said. . Gani lashed out at the PDP while accusing it of shedding tears on various issues including corruption. "They must look how many PDP ministers were involved in corruption when the party led the coalition rule. PDP has been raising corruption where it suits them and where it does not suit them they remain mum and unmindful", he said. Vakil urged the Chief Minister to punish the corrupt. According to him, it will be the biggest achievement of the coalition government. Corruption, he said, has distanced youth from the mainstream and only 30% of the youth is lured by the sentimental issues. Dr. Abdul Ahad Yatoo in his address sought serious measures to address unemployment. Senior Congress leader Khalid Muzzaffar Dar also addressed the gathering. |
