| Republic Day Celebrated with patriotic enthusiasm | | | JAMMU, JANUARY 26 Like other parts of the country, 58th Republic Day was celebrated at Kathua with patriotic enthusiasm. The main function was held at District Police Lines, Kathua where Minister for Health and Medical Education Ladakh Affairs, Labour and employment, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma hoisted the National tricolor and took salute at the biggest ever parade comprising of 52 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, Police Training School, Kathua, NCC and tiny platoons from various Government and Private schools besides Army pipers. While addressing the gathering, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma underscored the importance of this historical Day on which our country turned in to a Sovereign Democratic Republic, one of the best systems of governance prevailing in the world and our prestigious constitution was adopted which provides equal rights to all nationals irrespective of religion, Caste, creed and color. The Minister also recalled the sacrifices of the great martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and many others and leaders of our freedom movement Gandhi Ji, Nehru Ji, and others who fetched independence for we people. Our duty is to uphold the hard won independence by remaining on our guard against the nefarious designs of the anti-national elements, he added. Mr. Sharma also showered compliments for the security forces especially Para-military and police as they have done praiseworthy job in anti-militancy drive in which a large number of personnel have sacrificed their lives during 16 years of turmoil and expressed sympathies to the bereaved families. The Minister said that the period of present Government has shown extraordinary change in all the sectors with special prominence to education, Health, Tourism, and Agriculture. Education has been given precedence and ten thousand new primary schools and EGS centers have been introduced. 22 New colleges have been opened in the state out of which four-degree colleges in Kathua and one University Campus in Government Degree College, Kathua have been opened, to provide easy access to the University education, the minister added. Mr. Sharma further disclosed that the ambitious tourism project for district Kathua has been launched and two villages namely Jasrota and Bala Sundri have been identified to be developed as tourist villages in the first phase and whole tract from Lakhanpur to Sarthal is being developed shortly. Central Government has also launched a number of schemes namely Bharat Nirman, Rajiv Gandhi Vidhuti Karan yojna, Jawahar Lal Nehru National Mission and National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme to provide job opportunities to the rural as well as urban un-employed and achieve development in all the sectors, he believed. Counting the strides covered by the Health Department during the tenure of the present Government, the Minister disclosed that AIIMS status is being accorded to the Government Medical College, Jammu and land for the purpose has been acquired and all the District Hospitals are being upgraded under National Rural Health Mission with span of two years. Ambitious project for development of Kathua town is in offing under National urban renewal Mission and circular road from Kalibari to Kathua and Kathua to Hatlimore is being double lained shortly by Economic Reconstruction Agency. Separate Board has been created for OBC development and pension of Widows, destitute and disabled is being enhanced to provide them solace. At Basohli SDM, Mr. Ashish Dhar unfurled the National Flag at Ram Lila ground, Basohli and took salute at the impressive march past. Colourfull culture programme was also presented by the school children on the occasion. At Hiranagar, Mr. Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Chairman SC and St Advisory Board, MLA, Hiranagar hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past comprising of 22 contingents. Colourfull cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the school children. At Billawar MLA, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the parade at Government Higher Secondary School, Billawar. Colorful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the school children. At Bani similar function was also held at Bani and SDM Bani Mr. S.K Kapoor hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past. POONCH: 58TH Republic Day was celebrated through out the district Poonch with great enthusiasm and gaiety here today. The main function was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Poonch where the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution MrTaj-Mohi-ud-Din unfurled the National Flag and took salute on march past by the contingents drawn from CRPF, JKAP, Auxilary police NCC, College and School childrens. The school children presented a colorful cultural programme depicting the culture of the district and state. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister exhorted upon the general public to cooperate with district administration for completing all the development scheme taken in hand so that next plan is formulated and new development schemes be taken in hand. He said that the congress government is striving a hard for the all round development of the public so that the dream of Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad for developing a Khushal Jammu and Kashmir comes true. He spoke at length for the implementation of the Roshni scheme which he said is in the interest of farmers and landless people of the state in the long run. At Tehsil Mendhar- SDM Peer Muzaffar Ahmed at Surankote Choudhary Mohammad Razaq Tehsildar and at Mandi Syed Akhtra Hussain Shah unfurled the National Flag and took salute and march past. Cultural programmes were also presented by the school children at tehsil headquarter. A large number of people participated on the R-day throughout the district. Charak unfurls National Flag at Rajouri: The 58th Republic Day was celebrated throughout the district with National fervour and gaiety today. The main function was held at the sprawling ground of District Police Lines where over ten thousand of people participated in the grand celebration. Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the ceremonial parade comprising of JKP, CRPF, JKAP, women wing of Police, Auxiliary Police, NCC and School children of various institutions. UDHAMPUR: 58th Anniversary of Republic Day was celebrated through out Udhampur district with zeal, devotion and patriotic fervour today. The main function was held at PG Degree College for Boys, Udhampur ground where the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma who was the chief guest, hoisted the National flag and took salute at an impressive march past of 43 contingents drawn from J&K Police, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides and troops of various educational institutions of Udhampur town and adjoining areas. A scintillating cultural bonanza based on patriotism, social evils and our rich cultural heritage presented by the children of various schools was highly appreciated by the audience and kept the spectators spell bound. Gallantry award on behalf of GOI with a medal, citation and cheque of Rs.30,000 was also given to Mr. Balwan Singh of village Bup in tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur for saving the lives of three persons from a flooded nullah. KATRA: Like other parts of the state the 58th Republic Day celebration function was held at Government Higher Secondary School in the holy town of Katra. Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Mr J L Sharma unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the impressive march past by contingents drawn from JKP, NCC, Scouts and various troops of educational institutions of the town. Similar functions were also held at Panthal, Agarjittoo, Kakeryal and Municipal Committee Office Katra. REASI: The 58th Republic day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety at Sports Stadium Reasi. Tehsildar Reasi, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma hoisted the National Flag at 9.55 a.m and took salute from the contingents of police, IRP, STC, Talwara, NCC and troupes of various educational institutions of Reasi and adjoining areas. The day long proceedings started with the plying of Shehani Vadan by the Information Department. SAMBA, R S PURA: At Samba-58th Republic Day celebrated at Samba Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Rishi Kumar Gupta hoisted the National Flag and took salute from contingent of NCC and different educational institutions. MLA Samba Mr Yash Pal Kundal was the guest of honour. A large number of people form Samba town and adjoining villages witnessed the cultural programmes presented on the occasion. A number of ex-servicemen awardees of Mahavir Chakra and Vir Chakra were also honoured. At R S PURA- 58th Republic Day was celebrate at R.S Pura with gaiety and enthusiasm. The main function was held at Bana Singh Stadium R.S Pura MLA Mrs Suman Bhagat unfurled the national flag and took salute of the contingents from JKP, CRPF, BSF and various educational institutions. A colorful cultural programme was presented by school children. While addressing the function, Mrs Bhagat congratulated on the 58th Republic Day and called upon the people to imbibe in them spirit of hard work for development and prosperity of the nation and state. VIJAYPUR: Minister of State for Education and CAPD S. Manjit Singh today unfurled the National flag on the eve of 58th Re-public day celebration function held at Government Higher Secondary School Vijaypur. He also took salute of March past presented by school children and NCC cadets. Addressing on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the significance of Republic day and said that on this day in 1950 our constitution came into force, which was framed by Constituent Committee headed by Dr. B. R. Ambadker. He said that our country has chosen the right path of democracy by virtue of the constitution. He said the day is being celebrated throughout the country to recall the sacrifices laid by our people during freedom struggle. He said all of us should have to honor the constitution by way of doing right things in right manner. KHOUR: In connection with the 58th Republic Day celebrations, Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today unfurled national flag at Khour. Thousands of students of various schools of Khour Block and prominent personalities attended the grand function organized in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Khour. He also took salute of March past presented by the contingents of NCC and school children.
