4.1 magnitude quake hits Ladakh

Srinagar, Apr 15 :An earthquake of 4.1 magnitude on the Richter Scale rocked the Ladakh region early today, forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic despite cold. There was absolutely no impact of the tremor in the Valley, Disaster Management head Amir Ali said in a statement here. The mild tremor, which was felt at 0220 hrs, lasted for few seconds.
People rushed out of their homes in panic despite about three degrees below normal minimum temperature. He said there was no report of any loss of life or damage to property. Ali said its epicenter was somewhere in the Leh-China border. He added that there was no need to panic. However, people have to remain always ready and take precautions to meet any danger of earthquake.
