| Army holds regular courses for children of far-flung Doda areas | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Apr 16: 8 RR of army has taken an initiative to motivate parents in Ghat and other remote Doda villages to send their children to schools daily. The RR has already started there several courses for the children, including English speaking course. About 50 students, including girls, are attending the classes. During lectures to the students, army officers are also focussing on the importance of discipline in life. Most of these children did not have any work to do and spent time by roaming aimlessly in the village streets. But now, they too think of becoming army officers, doctors and engineers. He said that he could achieve the desired goal only through hard work. Ifat Rasool Wani, a student of 6th class, wants to be a doctor. Similar views were expressed by Muskan Wani who said she was thankful to 8 RR for holding regular classes for them. Sheema Wani, a student of 7th class, said she had gained a lot from the army courses. Abdul Rehman Wani, a resident of Ghat, said army had played an important role in uplifting the standard of education in the area. He said army provides school books, bags and uniforms to poor students and also arranges coaching classes for local students and unemployed youth. 8 RR CO, Col Abdul Hamid Khan said the aim of army was to develop conductive atmosphere in the area where the civil administration could perform its duty in the fields of healthcare and education. He said army was ready to help people whenever they required their help. |
