17 persons swap across ‘Aman Seth’ | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 16 : Fifteen guests from Pakistan- occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon while only two Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC). Official sources said ten returnees also crossed sides in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK. They said with the improvement in weather conditions in the Kashmir valley, 15 PoK residents, including two women and three children, arrived at Kaman, the last Indian military post, in Uri sector after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot this afternoon. This is the second highest number of PoK guests arriving here during 2012 after decline during winter. The highest so far is 19 who visited Kashmir valley on April 2. Ten Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives, separated in 1947. However, only two Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the LoC to meet their separated relatives. They said three PoK residents also returned to their homes after completing stay here. The bus service, started on April 7, 2005, completes seven years on Saturday. The service has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other. |
