4/16/2012 11:03:48 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 16: Volunteer Retirement Empl-oyees Association (VREA) of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation held protest at Press Club. The demonstration was held under leadership of president Dev Raj Bali.
Bali criticised the State Government and SRTC management for not putting their case of VRS/GHS employees in Board meeting held on April 10, 2012, whereas it was assured to them that their case would be discussed in the Board of Directors meeting.
He regretted that it has again put off the issue by making lame excuse that case will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting, the date of which is uncertain.
He disclosed that in the Assembly Budget a provision of Rs 26 crore to clear the liabilities of VRS/GHS was made. The Association suggested if no funds are available they can dispose off their land at different places and clear the dues of VREA.
Others who attended the protest include Balwinder Singh, D.N Sharma, Prem Nath, Surjit Singh, Moihd Sharief, Asan Elahi, Javed Iqbal and others.
