Court directive in CCI elections

JAMMU, Apr 16: In a petition challenging the rejection of candidature of plaintiff for the post of president of chamber of commerce and industry (CCI), scheduled to go to polls on April 28 next, chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Jatinder Singh Jamwal today issued notice to caveator.
The petition was filed by Rajan Dutta who had filed papers to contest for the post of CCI president. His candidature was, however, rejected by CCI election president Anil Kapahi during scrutiny of his documents on April 8 last.He challenged the rejection of his candidature, terming it null and void. He prayed the court to restrain the defendants from proceeding ahead with the election of the CCI office bearers without allowing the plaintiff to participate in the said election for the post of President. The CJM, after hearing the counsel for the petitioner, issued notice to caveator.
