| Shootout in Dalgate | | Two CRPF personnel killed, civilian injured | | SRINAGAR, AUGUST 1: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and a civilian was injured when militants attacked a patrol party at Dalgate in Srinagar on Tuesday morning. Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the responsibility of the attack. According to the reports reaching here, militants opened fire at 172 battalion of the CPRF near bus stand Dalgate this morning, killing CRPF personnel identified as Kapil Kumar on spot while other personnel, Mohammad Aziz Khan died on way to hospital. A civilian was also injured in the shootout, sources said, adding that the incident caused chaos and people ran in helter-skelter for their lives. Sources said that the injured civilian was rushed to SMHS hospital where doctors attending upon him as term his condition as critical. Sources added that Police and paramilitary forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the militants responsible for the attack. Militant outfit JeM has claimed the responsibility of the attack. In a Tele statement to KPS, a caller identifying himself as the acting spokesman of the outfit, Zubair said, “cadres from our outfit carried out the attack on CRPF at Dalgate”.
