| 2 militants killed in JK | | | Srinagar, January 26 A company commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was killed during an encounter between the militants and security forces at Kokernag, while one militant was gunned down during an infiltration bid on international border in Jammu sector. According to police sources, sleuths of SOG and 36 RR laid cordoned off a hide out at Mati Gowran Kokernag during which a company commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit sharief-ud-Din Khan alias Aurangzeb S/O Mohd Yaqoob R/O Kachoon Kokernag fired upon security personnel who retaliated. The heavy exchange of fire resulted in the killing of Hizb militant and a big cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from him. It has been learnt that Hizb militant was active in the area during last 13 years. Owning the slain Hizb comander’s association with his outfit, Hizb spokesman Junaid-ul-Islam while talking to KNS over phone paid glowing tributes to the slain militant. Meanwhile a group of militants on Thursday evening at around 9.00 P.M tried to cross over to this side of the international border during which Pakistan rangers and militants resorted to heavy firing on a BSF post. The retaliation by BSF triggered a heavy exchange of fire which last for a very long time. A militant was killed in the shoot out, while his other associates managed to go back to the other side of international border. SSP Jammu Mukesh Singh told KNS over phone that firing on international border has taken place for the second time in last ten days and two BSF personnel were injured during these two encounters.
