| Republic day parades held amid tight security at Bakshi Stadium, other district HQs | | | Srinagar, January 26 Amid tight security republic day parade was held at Bakshi Stadium and other district headquarters in valley today. However streets in Srinagar, other major townships and even villages wore a deserted look, as normal life was crippled by dawn to dusk shut down in the valley. The frontline separatist and militant groups had called for a total shut down on the even of January 26 in the valley as usual. The security forces had put restriction on the movement of people as a result of which only security vehicles were seen plying in the city and elsewhere in the valley. Security was put on high alert in view of the threat of militants to disturb republic day parades in the valley as a result of which all entry points leading to Bakshi Staium, the venue of republic day parade in Srinagar, were sealed three days back. The people were staying indoors from the last two days in valley. The republic day parade was attended by senior civil, police and security force officials at highly guarded Bakshi Stadium today. A large number of Government officials also attended the republic day function at Bakshi Stadium during which colorful musical programs were present for about one hour.
