Early times Reprot JAMMU, Apr 16: Special judge anti-corruption Pawan Dev Kotwal today awarded nine years imprisonment to a former district education officer (DEO), Poonch, in corruption cases. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,70,000 on ex-DEO Mohammad Yousaf Kohli, who according to SVO, had appointed his kith and kin as peons, clerks, laboratory assistants and teachers on ad-hoc basis in violation of norms and without the approval of competent authority. After the completion of investigation, a challan was presented in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, which was decided today after 23 years of trial. Taking into account all the facts and circumstances, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for one year and fined Rs 30,000 under section 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) of PC Act, 2006. The court ordered that fine shall be recovered from the estate of the accused.
