PoK refugees court arrest
4/16/2012 11:41:42 PM
early times report
Jammu, Apr 16 : Some 50 Pakistan-occupied Kashmir refugees today courted arrest during a demonstration here in support of their demand for a rehabilitation package. Over 350 refugees, including women and old persons, assembled at Maheshpura Chowk and chanted anti-government slogans. Alleging the Central government and the Jammu and Kashmir dispensation which had failed to rehabilitate them, some 50 protesters, demanding rehabilitation package for them, courted arrest. Senior Congress leader and Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla had said on April 10 that a total package of nearly Rs 1,775 crore had been worked out for refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 and migrants from the Jammu region. "We welcome the initiative taken by the Minister. Our demand should be met," the PoK refugee leaders said.
