Drug smuggler denied bail
4/17/2012 11:21:28 PM
Early Times report
JAMMU, Apr 17: Principal Sessions Judge Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal today rejected the bail application of Sunny Singh from whom police had recovered 3,000 parmolspasm capsules on March 17 last. According to the police case, 3,000 capsules were recovered by police at Rehari Colony on March 17 last from Sunny's possession while he was driving an autorickshaw. He was then arrested and booked under section 8/21/22 of NDPS Act.The judge, after hearing the two sides, observed that since 3,000 intoxicated capsules were recovered from the possession of petitioner, it was not possible at this stage to ascertain if the case fell under the commercial quantity or not and if the petitioner was not guilty of having committed the offence. There was no good ground made out for allowing the bail application. If granted bail, there was the possibility that he would tamper with the prosecution evidence and might not be available during the investigation or trial. With these observations, the court rejected the bail.
