Police file chargesheet against land grabbers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 17 : Jammu & Kashmir police today filed the chargesheet in a court against 6 persons in a case of alleged encroachment and subsequent illegal change of land records in Samba district. The prosecution diary was filed in the court of Anti-Corruption Judge by the Crime Branch against Narinder Singh, Pritam Singh, Promod Singh, Ashok Singh and Jamal Din, the then revenue official at Birpur village. On April 24, 2007, the police forwarded a written complaint filed by one Bishan Singh Jamwal to the Crime Branch here which alleged Narinder Singh in connivance with Patwari and other revenue officials started the encroachment and clandestine sale of Government land and also constructed a shed, fencing in Government land and engaged labour for doing reclamation of the land. From perusal of seized records and investigation conducted, it was found that illegal entries of land measuring 215 kanal of state land were made illegally by the then revenue official Jamal Din on the name of the accused persons which they managed in connivance with the revenue department of Birpur, the chargesheet said.The revenue official had facilitated the encroachment on the state land by abusing his official position thereby causing loss to the state exchequer, said the chargesheet. The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for May 9. |
