| POWERGRID Celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , Apr 17: In line with its tradition of always reaching out to the poor and needy, POWERGRID Corporation of India Ltd, Northern Region Transmission System - II, Jammu celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimarao Ramji Ambedkar at Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School run by SAWERA (NGO) at Channi Himmat here. The school has children mainly from the slums and weaker sections of the society. Stanley Mathews, Chief Manager(HR) POWERGRID was the chief guest on this occasion. Besides Stanley Mathews Dr. R.R. Khajuria Founder of SAWERA, Dr. Gurmeet Singh President (SAWERA), members from Srishti Mahila Samiti and several officials of POWERGRID alongwith their family members participated in the function that lasted for more than 2 hours.
In his welcome address Dr. Gurmeet Singh, welcomed the guests to the School and thanked POWERGRID for celebrating this national day with the children of the school.
Dr. R.R. Khajuria founder member of 'SAWERA' also thanked POWERGRID for its valuable assistance and hoped that association with POWERGRID shall go a long way in helping the cause of downtrodden and weaker sections.
In his address, Stanley Mathews, urged upon the children to live their lives with dignity and honour. He stressed on the fact that all human beings are equal and they must lead their lives with self respect and self belief. On this occasion children of the school also expressed their thoughts on the role of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in development of our country. which was duly applauded and appreciated by the audience. |
