Brig Verma declares open JPL Phase-II | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , Apr 17: Brigadier AK Verma, Commander Artillery Brigade of Crossed Swords Division today declared open the Headquarters 16 Corps Jammu Premier League (JPL) Phase-II for Pool `A' under Operation Sadbhavana at Army School ground, Akhnoor today. The chief guest, Brig Verma shook hands with the players competing in the opening match and motivated them for a spirited game play. The first league match of the pool was played between Samba Soormas and Kathua Knights. In a scintillating encounter Kathua Knights set a big total of 201 runs for the loss of six wickets in given 20 overs, which, in reply, Samba Soormas could not chase and exhausted their quota of overs for 183 runs for nine wickets. In Kathua Knights 18 runs win Sakir Ali played an important role. He made highest 66 runs and also took three wickets thereby adjudged the man of the match. Atul and Vishal of Kathua Knights also played well contributing 66 and 43 runs respectively. From Samba Soormas, Mohammad Salim was top scorer with 75 runs while Vikrant Singh and Pradeep Singh contributed 31 and 27 runs respectively.
