30 BJP activists annoyed at Sidhu's candidature resign
1/26/2007 9:50:42 PM

AMRITSAR, JAN 25
Over 30 mandal activists of BJP resigned today to protest denial of ticket to Baldev Parkash Chawla in favour of former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu's friend Anil Joshi.
All the BJP activists have resigned in favour of Chawla, a former Punjab minister, who was denied Lok Sabha ticket this time from Amritsar North Assembly constituency, highly-placed party sources said.
Sidhu's candidate does not even belong to Amritsar but has been preferred to Chawla, a BJP district level senior leader said.
BJP district President Bakshi Ram Arora said to resolve the crises, former Union minister Arun Jaitely will arrive here tomorrow.
Sources in the party said Sidhu had managed the two assembly tickets of Amritsar North and West alloted to his close friends Joshi and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna through Jaitely, ignoring the claims of various state level leaders.
