Political pestering galore for Azad | April month loaded with rallies: individual or party shows…? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 17: The month of April began on a hectic political activity note for Congress with a gala political function coupled with inaugural spree of certain benchmarks which matter in the achievements of the party. It was none other than the former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the centre stage of all functions on April 1. Two weeks later and Azad is again on Jammu visit this time, extending it beyond Jammu district, in Billawar where a rally has been convened tomorrow. Azad is also scheduled to address one more such function in the outskirts of Jammu at Sidhra in the evening. Sources said while preparations for Billawar rally have been going on for quite some days, it is essentially a function convened by Dr Manohar Lal, MoS Cooperatives, who is the MLA of the constituency. Dr Manohar Lal, sources said is utilizing all his 'strength' of men and resources in order to make this show a grand success, apparently to demonstrate his depth in the political waters in front of the party stalwart who matters in the key affairs and decisions of the Congress. In other words, after Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand's political show on April 1 at Jammu, this is being seen as on similar lines - all to impress the 'political boss'. Sources, however, said while in Jammu rally, Deputy Chief Minister managed presence of almost all the Ministers and leaders of both the factions in the Congress which augured well in terms of Azad announcing it loudly that Congress is a united house and all is well within the party, this may not be seen in tomorrow's rally for more than one reason. One that Billawar is quite far away a place to register the presence of all the Ministers, if not the leaders and party functionaries. Though the rally is all set to see the presence of senior leaders in Azad camp including Ministers and MPS besides legislators from both the Houses, a complete 'united' face of the Congress in tomorrow's rally is not expected. Sources said the organizers have not invited even some local leaders including former MLA and former Minister of Bani Prem Sagar Aziz, a firebrand leader who used to be in reckoning of the power corridors during previous coalition regime. Also in what can be seen as some pestering political interventions for the Union Minister, sources also said on his way back to Jammu, Azad is likely to be intercepted at Samba by the party cadres, believed to be supporters of former MLA Choudhary Gharu Ram, whom former want to be in some political reckoning in terms of 'adjustments'. However, this is said to be not on official schedule of the day's engagements. In the evening before leaving for New Delhi, Azad is all set to address one more rally at Sidhra. This, though organized under the banner of Backward Classes Union, it is Sharief Niaz, Congress leader who is on the forefront of the political function, for apparent political reasons. |
