Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 18: Fresh instructions have been issued to the field commanders in the Army to upgrade the security grid all along the LOC and the IB not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in the border belts kissing Pakistan and Bangladesh in the Western and the Eastern sectors following a note of caution issued to India by Pakistan's interior Minister, Rehman Malik.
Rehman Malik, reports said, has cautioned India against possible spillover of Talibans infiltrating into the Indian territory from Federally Administered Tribal Area(FATA) province after the Pakistani troops regained control of the Swat valley by forcing the Talibans to be on the run.
Official sources said that though Malik has assured India of Pakistan Gover nment's help in tackling the menace of ingress of militants the Indian Defence Ministry has asked the field commanders to deploy additional troops,in case they fund it feasible, on the LOC and the IB in order make it impossible for the militants to sneak into the Indian territory.
Another instruction issued to the troops is that they should plug both conventional and non-conventional infiltration routes and reduce the space among the border outposts and surveillance towers.
Since attempts were being made by both official and non-official agencies in Pakistan at providing assistance to militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons,in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir for giving teeth to subversive violence that has touched a new low during the last one year security forces anticipate some rise in the border conflict in the near future.
It is in this context that the security scenario on the LOC and the IB was being reviewed by top functionaries of the Army,MI and the IB so that whatever loopholes were found were removed.
Official sources said that it is the result of this development that the top Army functionaries were opposed to even the partial withdrawal of the AFSPA.
