| PDP expresses concern over rise in crime rate, corruption | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Apr 18: Senior People's Democratic Party leader Shakir Hussain Siddiqui in his statement issued here today has alleged that Kishtwar Police is involved in corrupt practices as a result of which the crime rate in district is on rise. In a press note issued here Siddiqui has shown concern over the rising crime rate. He has said that so far more than 70 FIRs have been registered in police station Kishtwar whereas during the last year 400 figures was crossed in one police station only. Siddiqui has alleged that for the last one year the crime rate has increased and the people are feeling insecure. He has said that during these three months near about two dozen cases relating to different thefts have been registered. Shakir Siddiqui has alleged that biased attitude and corrupt practice of police is known to everyone here and even people are holding protests against police but the higher authorities and government is in deep slumber. Siddiqui has further alleged that few police officers under the patronage of political heavy weights are looting the people and filling their coffers. PDP leader has further said that it is surprising to know that when asked about the rise in theft cases one of the officers has suggested people through media to keep private watchmen which shows how sincere and serious Kishtwar police is.As per Siddiqui the gap between police and public has widened and people are scared of the police. Even in an incidents recently a police personnel fired gun shot on a civilian and even after registration of FIR no arrest was made. Siddiqui has stressed upon concered Minister to himself monitor Kishtwar police and take action on the corrupt and inefficient police officers. |
