Be alert, militants may disrupt peace: Lt Gen Nandal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 18 : In view of present developments across Jammu and Kashmir, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps Lieutenant General A S Nandal today asked security agencies to remain alert as militants may disrupt peace in the region. ' There was a need to remain alert in view of the recent developments, since there is a possibility of militants attempting to disrupt peace in the region,' Lt Gen Nandal said while chairing a core group meeting at White Knight Corps Headquarters at Nagrota on city outskirts. The General said, ' the downward trend in terrorism was attributable to the high degree of domination and effectiveness achieved by all security agencies in the state.' 'This should not, however, lull us into complacency, as the intentions of militants cannot be predicted, while their infrastructure across the Line of Control continued to be intact,' the GOC said. The meeting also reviewed the security situation in Jammu region, which included the security arrangements for the impending Darbar move. Lt Gen Nandal, who is also security advisor to the Governor, complimented the security forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration for ensuring peace and tranquility and for achieving a very high degree of synergy in efficiently handling the challenges of internal security in the Jammu region. The meeting was also co-chaired by the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda and attended by the top brass of various security agencies. |
