Azad also down played the statement of Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik that Taliban were contract killers who called themselves Muslims. "Pakistani leadership says different things at different points of time" he said. Earlier, Azad arrived in Sidhra to a rousing welcome at a public function organized by the federation of OBCs. Accompanied by Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Member Parliament Lal Singh and legislators Kishen Chander Bhagat, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vikar Rasool, GM Saroori and others. An enthusiastic gathering awaited Azad for over three hours as he returned from Billawar after attending a similar function there. Addressing the rally, Azad advocated the need to extend reservation to the backward and down trodden sections of the society. "It is due to the reservation policy drafted by Balasaheb and implemented by Pandit Nehru that today J&K has Dy Chief Minister and Parliament has Speaker who belong to Scheduled Castes. He said that it was during the regime of PDP-Congress coalition that State passed a legislation allowing reservation to SC/ST and OBC. He however confessed that reservation extended to OBCs in the State was far less in proportion to their population. "There is a need to conduct a survey on the exact population of OBCs and then raise their percentage in the reservation" Azad said.
