| Killers can't administer justice: Mehbooba | | | Salil Raina
POONCH, Apr 18: Killers cannot be expected to do justice to all the regions of the State. People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti referring to National Conference worker, Haji Yusuf's death in Crime Branch custody said while addressing a gathering at Poonch today.
Mahbooba accused Omar led Government of failure on all fronts. It is plagued with corruption and the tall claims about development are confined to papers only", she said.
The PDP president expressed surprise on demands seeking justice from Dr Farooq Abdullah. "How can he administer justice? He has swindled crores meant for Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA)", she said.
The much policed NREGA scheme is also a hub of corruption beside scams in NRHM sector added another feather in Omar's cap, she added.
This Government has no clear policy on unemployment. "However, re-employing favourities goes on unabated. NYC and casual labours are suffering for no fault of theirs", she said.
Mahbooba said MLC and Ministerial berths are put on sale at Rs 50 lacs and Rs 1 crore respectively.
"It was Mufti Sahib, who changed the fortunes of J&K and whole world had appreciated the work done during our tenure. Former Prime Minister Vajpayee ji also appreciated good governance of PDP. It was Mufti who had a detailed discussion with former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee over opening of LOC from Chakan-Da-Bagh that brought Poonch to International map and slowly is now the bridge between two neighboring countries. His much talked about `Healing Touch Policy' paid dividends for a common man as he wanted to deliver justice", she said.
She said that the people are paying heavily for the misdeeds of this Government and requested the people to provide another chance to PDP if they are curious about better governance.
"During PDP rule, the power cuts were limited, but now, some areas witness prolonged power cuts. We provided tehsil status to Mandi, 133 kv power transmission line was also laid. Mughal road was over dream. It was Mufti Sahib who took bold action against corruption by prematurely retiring corrupt officials", she said.
Mahbooba claimed that NC could not do in 60 years what PDP did in three years. Mahbooba had a word of appreciation for Hindu community. "I am really touched with the response that I get from Hindu Community, It was the same Hindu leaders who burnt posters of PDP during bam bam bole agitation, but now they too have realized about the vision of PDP as our party doesn't believe in policies of dividing people for votes", she said.
MLC Murtaza Khan, Abdul Hamid Manhas, Imtiaz Bandey, Shamim Ganai, Shamim Dar and Tanveer Dar were among those who spoke on the occasion. Later, large number of people joined PDP. |
