Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 19: Taking cognizance against the irregularity in their meager monthly pension from a long span of time widows from Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Sabha today registered a protest demonstration against the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha outside the Press Club Jammu. While speaking on the occasion Manori Devi said that the pension of the destitute widow women's of the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha has been discontinued from the last one year for the reasons unknown to them. "Although the amount of pension is so feeble i.e. Rs 100 per month and seems as a joke with us but it became most awful as it is not given to us from the last one year which is a matter of shame for the concerned office bearers of the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha" she added.
She disclosed that Mahajan's from the different parts of the city donate their money to the sabha for the pension of the destitute widow women's but from the last one year sabha has stopped giving pension to the widows and when they go there for it the office bearers of the said sabha refuse to give pension by adopting dilly dallying tactics every now and again. She stated that this pension was started by the founder of Mahajan Sabha Lala Hans Raj Mahajan approximately 80 years back but now despite of the hefty donation by the Mahajan's still they are not giving their pension to the deserving destitute widows of Mahajan community. She further disclosed that earlier the heads of the same sabha used to donate cloths, sewing machines, shawls, etc to the deserving women's and uniforms, books, pencils and bags to their children's but now the sabha has halted their meager pension too which is not understood able.
