Early Times Report
POONCH, Apr 19: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti turned emotional and shed tears at a tea party hosted to welcome new entrants in the party here today. The Party was hosted by Retired Principal Harbir Singh. Mehbooba could not resist the tears that rolled down her cheeks when she saw a large number of retired persons from Hindu community joining the party.
She said, "After retirement people generally takes rest and indulge in spiritual activities. But I am surprised; Mufti Sahib is still running from Pillar to Post for the welfare of the people of the State. He does not want to take rest till his last breath, because he knows that this is the only time to change the fortunes of J&K." Media persons, however, were not allowed to `shoot' her moist eyes. Later prominent persons consoled her by assuring a change in near future.
"There was a time when non Muslims thought that PDP was an anti-national party, but our good governance eliminated all doubts from the mind of non Muslims. Now the results of Mufti Sahib's hard work have started yielding fruits as is visible here today", she said.
Mehbooba urged them to shoulder responsibility for changing the fortunes of the State. "PDP did it in past and we are determined to repeat this performance. PDP is a secular and the most viable option for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. All we need is the active support from all the regions of J&K", she said. Prominent leader Advocate Sanjay Raina joined the party amidst huge clapping from audience. Among others who joined the party were Raghbir Singh, Kulwant Singh, Dr. Karak Kumar, Capt. Sohan Singh, Surjeet Singh and Mohd Shafi.
