Kissan Union stages dharna, demands Rs 500 cr special package | | | Early Times Report
Bishnah, Apr 20: Demanding special package of Rs. 500 crores to provide compensation to the farmers of Jammu region, All J&K Kissan Union (AJKKU) today staged a protest demonstration. During the protest demonstration, of AJKKU and former legislator Ashok Kumar Sharma urged for providing 6 months free ration to the affected farmers and supply of free seeds and fertilizer for ensuring Kharif crop bringing crop and cattle insurance in full to offset the losses due to non-de silting of canals and its distributaries and release of water before March 15. Various other demands raised on the occasion, included irrigation facilities, promoting rain water harvesting management, providing latest techniques of dry land farming, bringing small and marginal farmers under BPL category and reservation of seats for their children in professional, technical and institutions of higher learning as per the population of farming community, establishment of Kissan Bhawans at block, district and divisional levels, fixation of minimum support price of agriculture produce and establishment of fire service stations at venerable places. The Kissan Union also forcefully pleaded provision for separate budget for agriculture and its allied sectors on the pattern of 'Railway Budget' and declaring agriculture as industry and providing incentives there under. A memorandum of the farmers demand was presented to Tehsildar Bishnah for submitting it to the State Governor, Chief Minister, Minister for Agriculture and Revenue and the Chief Secretary. Raghunandan Khajuria, Yashpaul Sharma, Vinod Sawhney, R.C. Raju, Amit Dubey, Ram Goria and Puran Chand Khajuria also spoke on the occasion . |
