| Petrol pumps to remain close on Apr 23 | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 20 : Jammu and Kashmir Petroleum dealers today announced one-day token strike in support of Federation of All India Petroleum Dealers on April 23."The petroleum dealers have decided to go on one-day strike against the Central government's policy of not raising the commissions and not doing anything to stop random opening of filling stations across the state," Anan Sharma, president All Jammu and Kashmir Petroleum Dealers Association told reporters here this afternoon. Sharma said the Federation of All India Petroleum Dealers had constituted a committee and submitted their demands to the Central government. "Demands submitted to the Centre included raise in the commissions from 2 per cent to 5 per cent and keeping check on random opening of filling stations in the state without following the norms," the Association leader said. He said the Federation is demanding implementation of committee report on dealers' commission and evaporation loss, keeping check on mushrooming of new retail outlets and discussion on Marketing Discipline Guidelines. "With the increase in all the costs like purchase of petroleum products, the committee had also suggested an increase in dealers' commission," he said. "We will observe one-day strike on April 23 to press the government to consider our demands and from May 1, the strike will be indefinite, if our demands will not be addressed," Sharma added. |
