| Expelled BJP MLAs' assertion: we are real face of party | | 'Speaker must disqualify Khajuria, others' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20 : Expelled seven BJP legislators Friday triggered yet another debate claiming for the first time that they were the 'real' representatives of the party and had written to Jammu and Kashmir assembly speaker to disqualify the four remaining MLAs for conspiring against the party. Addressing a joint press conference one of the MLA Jagdish Raj Sapolia told reproters here, "Assembly speaker Mohd Akbar Lone said on the floor of the House that all seven members belong to BJP and cannot be treated as 'expelled' or 'disqualified'. He also announced senior leader Chaman Lal Gupta as
legislative party leader in the House,".We are the real BJP, he added claiming that the other four MLA's are the real conspirators. It is worthwhile to mention here that the BJP high command had 'expelled' seven MLAs for their alleged involvement in cross-voting in
MLC elections on April 14, 2011 in favour of National Conference and Congress.
"We have majority of seven MLAs and are the real BJP representatives in Jammu and Kashmir," Sapolia said. He further said the legislators have also written to the speaker to
suspend four MLAs, namely Ashok Khajuria, Jugal Kishore, Choudhary Sham Lal and Choudhary Sukhnandan from the BJP. Senior leader Chaman Lal Gupta alleged that funds sanctioned to the party were being 'misused' and were not being spent to strengthen the
party cadre. The MLAs further said the cross-voting episode was part of a design to
weaken the nationalist voice of the state."It is our belief that to bring an end to the so-called Kashmir problem, all the barriers between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of India should immediately be demolished," the MLAs said.
Prof Gupta also claimed that while he headed the party in the state the party high command never funded them.
We organised several national level and state centric party programms including Ekta Yatra,anti-terrorism rallies after Doda massacre and hosted central party leaders but never ever we have received a single penny from the central party unit. |
