| Satwari zone holds Sports Mela under SSA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 20: Under the aegis of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Satwari Zone organised one-day Sports Mela at Government Middle School Bhure Chak by involving students from different government schools. Event was organised in connection with Enrolment Drive-2012 of Jammu and Kashmir Education Department under the supervision of District Chairman of SSA Jammu, N R Dhingra and zone incharge, Syed Murawwat Hussain Shah. In boys' team events, Government Middle School Thalwal bagged first place in tug of war. Second place in this event went to High School Barzala while Middle School Alora remained third. Boys 100 meters gold went to Rajan Kumar of Middle School Thalwal while Parveen Kumar of Middle School Bhure Chak and Rakesh Kumar of High School Barzala bagged second and third place respectively. The spoon race gold was clinched by Rohit Kumar from Middle School Mandal. Randeep Singh of High School Barzala and Rohit Kumar of Middle School Sohanjana finished second and third respectively. In girls individual events, Madhu Bala of Government Middle School Bhure Chak bagged 100 meters gold while Riya Sharma of Middle School Dundpur Mukhra and Arti Devi of Middle School Alora bagged second and third position respectively. Sawati Sharma from Middle School Bhure Chak secured first position in girls spoon race while Arti Devi from Middle School Alora and Shilpa Devi of Middle School Dundpur Mukhra were second and third respectively. The participants were drawn from Government High School Barzala, Middle School Bhure Chak, Middle School Alora, Middle School Sohanjana, Middle School Thalwal, Middle School Sure Chak, Middle School Dund Pur Mukhra, Middle School Man-dal, Primary School Parhlad Pur Colony, Primary School Gandu Chak, Girls Primary School Prambli, Primary School Tikko Terra, Primary School Beli Charana, Mobile Primary School Gujjar Basti Karnaile Chak and Primary School Parhlad Pur. Earlier, coordinator of the meet Nasir Ahmed Qurashi impressed upon the students to take active part in games. He said that games play an important role in the all round development of students. |
