| Ujjawal, Rashid shine as India bags overall trophy | | 82nd South Asian Fencing Championship | | early times report JAMMU, Apr 20: Two senior fencers, RashidAhmed and Ujjawal Gupta made Jammu and Kashmir proud by helping India wonoverall championship trophy in the 2nd South Asian Fencing Championship concluded at Hyd-erabad yesterday. While promising Ujjawal wontwo gold medals in Sabre individual and team events, Rashid clinched a bronze (individual) and gold (team) to guide India gain a lead over opponents for the coveted overall championship trophy. Senior fencer and Sub-Inspector with Jammu and Kashmir Police, Rashid was captain of the Indian team. According to the report spouring in, earlier, in the Sabre team event final, India defeated Sri Lanka ina close contest with final score being 45-35. For overall championship trophy, India secured 53 points. In all, six nations of the South Asia took part in this three-day event held at Hyderabad. Ujjawal Gupta, who is astudent of Post Graduate Department of Zoology, was sponsored by the University of Jammu for this international event. |
