Army Public School celebrates International Earth Day

JAMMU, Apr 21: Army Public School (APS), Jammu Cantonment today celebrated International Earth Day in the school premises. A special assembly was conducted with an intention to inspire awareness and appreciation for earth's natural environment. All activities were focused on environmental issues. Suditi Sahni gave the amazing facts which are causing damage to the earth and made everyone to ponder on the crucial need of saving our Mother Earth. The students put up a skit which revolved round the state of our planet Earth and showed the future of Earth if it is not cared for. A student of class VII recited a poem depicting the importance of the International Earth Day celebrated every year on 22 April. This emphasised on reviewing our responsibility towards the environment and how much more work needs to be done. Students of Lakshmibai House exhibited a stunning dance in praise of God's most beautiful creation, the Mother Earth and the damage and destruction we are causing to it. The proceeding ended with a pledge to protect our environment and thereby our future. Principal, Anu Jandial planted a sapling emph asising the importance of saving planet Earth from careless use and sensitised the students that they must do their bit in this regard, as every little step is needed to save our Mother Earth. The proceedings of the programme ended with Earth Day Anthem which was composed by school music teacher.
Students participated in the activity of making badges on Earth Day which were distributed amongst the students and teachers spreading a message to save the earth. Earth Save Day also celebrated by the students of Shining Star High School, Muthi on Saturday. The school children organ ised a rally which was flagged off by the Principal of Government High Sch ool, Muthi Roshan Lal Gupta. Principal of the School, Rachna Goswami apprised that the whole world is celebrating the Earth Day by switching off their lights from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. She exhorted the students to participate in whole in such activities to like plantation, water cleanliness and air free pollution. Others who addressed the rally include Dr.Kulbushan, Rajinder Padha, Suresh Gupta and Dr. J.P Goswami.
