| Postal Department launches 'Gold Coin Festival' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: The Department of Postal Services launched 'India Post Gold Coin Festival' in connection with 'Akshaya Tritya' here today. The fest was inaugurated by Chief Post Master General John Samuel here this morning. Speaking on the occasion, Samuel said during the 'Gold Coin Festival', Post Office would offer six per cent discount to the customers thus making the purchase of coins very attractive at lucrative rates. "The Post Offices at Gandhi Nagar, Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar, Kathua and Udhampur will sell the 24 carat gold coins with 99.99 per cent purity in the denomination 0.5 gm, 1 gm, 5 gm, 8 gm, 10 gm, 20 gm and 50 gm," he added. He, however, said the coins are manufactured by Valcambi, Switzerland and they are packed in a sealed cover with the authentication certification. "On the occasion of 'Akshaya Tritya' festival, the Gandhi Nagar and Jammu Tawi branches of Post Offices will remain open for the sale of gold coins," Samuel said. He also announced that the post offices selling maximum number of gold coins and earning profits, would be rewarded with special incentives. The Chief Post Master General also disclosed that the Vaishno Devi Post Office has been upgraded to Tourist Post Office |
