'Panthers playing politics of opportunism: Rana | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana today said when the J&K National Conference has always believed in principled politics the fringe political parties like the Panthers party are indulging in politics of opportunism, deceit and hollow sloganeering. Addressing a huge gathering at Ramnagar here today, Rana launched a scathing attack against Panthers and said, "Panthers leadership talks of idealism and high morals in the Legislative Assembly the criminalization and dictatorial political machinations that they have unleashed in their constituencies expose them." Rana said that the days are gone when influential people used to exploit development process for their own interest. "National Conference has a history of serving people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, "National Conference always fought for the rights of the poor and weaker sections and spearheaded the movement of democracy and public empowerment." Referring to the achievement of party, he said, "the historic decision of land to tiller, panchayati raj, women empowerment, free education and universalization of basic amenities initiated and implemented by this party across the state without any consideration of region, religion, creed, caste or colour." He said that the exploitation politics being nurtured by the Panthers party in Ramnagar is the worst kind of opportunism at the cost of poor and downtrodden people of the area. Rana cautioned the people of the nefarious designs of those indulging in dividing the society on various counts for personal and party gains. Others who addressed the gathering included Rakesh Gupta, Subash Kudyar, Master Umar Din, Mohd Iqbal, Raj Kapoor, KD Sharma and Charan Dass. |
