| Congress expresses concern over poor conditions of Govt schools | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Apr 22 : Prominent Congress leader and former President District Youth Congress Committee Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir Hussain Advocate has shown serious concern over the poor conditions of government schools in far flung areas of district Kishtwar. In a statement issued here Congress leader has said that the conditions of most of the government run schools in far flung areas is worrisome. He said that lack of teaching staff and inadequate infrastructure in most of schools in areas like Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Chatroo and Bonjwah is adversely affecting the education in these institutions. While citing an example Sheikh Nasir has said that High School Sarthal having roll of nearly 350 students has only two rooms for ten classes. Same is the conditions of schools in Chatroo, Padder, and other far flung areas. The situation is worst in most of the schools in Marwah, Dachhan and Warwan areas. Maximum posts of teaching staff as well as non-teaching are lying vacant. Thousands of students were suffering due to poor condition of the schools and putting their career at stake. He said that despite the fact that huge funds are being pumped from centre for improvement of education sector in rural areas under SSA scheme, the schools in this mountainous district were lacking the facilities, especially the staff and proper accommodation. He said that most of the schools in district were without drinking water facility and electricity, What to talk of other facilities. He further added that private school buildings were being locked by the landlords as they too were not being paid the rent in time as per market rates. Sheikh Nasir appealed the government to take adequate steps in this regard and ensure the availability of teaching staff in the schools and improve the infrastructure. |
