| J&K Bank starts special scheme for migrant labourers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 22 : In an effort to help migrant labourers and other workers from different parts of the country to open account in J & K bank branches and save money. Jammu and Kashmir Bank has introduced a scheme 'SB-Ujala'. According to bank, any labourer or any other worker can get benefit under this scheme which will be exclusively for weaker sections of society to help them to save money. Any migrant labourer and worker can open account in any J &K bank branch under this scheme. However, there is no need for them to produce residence proof or any other document to open the account, the bank said. However, they will have to give reference of any person who already has account in any of the bank branches. Under this scheme an account holder can deposit Rs one lakh per annum. He will be allowed to withdraw Rs 10,000 per month from his or her account. However, account holder will not have the facility of cheque book Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) card. They will be however, provided another card. This, the bank said, will help these labourers and workers to save money in a more secure way. |
