Bhalla dedicates community hall to Buddhists

JAMMU, Apr 22 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla on Sunday dedicated multipurpose community hall to Buddhists, worth Rs. 35 lakh at Ambedkar Nagar. He also visited many other areas of Jammu city to inspect ongoing development works including Ambedkar Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Rehim Nagar etc.
At Ambedkar Nagar, the Minister assured the people that all their pending issues regarding development in the area would be redressed in a phased manner. He informed that adequate financial assistance is being provided to the homeless people in rural areas under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and basic services to urban poor and other schemes in Urban centre. He said that the Government has already dedicated Rs. 9 crore multipurpose community halls to poor lot of his home constituency. He hoped that the people of respective bastis will cooperate with executing agencies in making the areas on modern lines with effective implementation of development works. Bhalla said that Government is endeavoring a lot to eradicate poverty and illiteracy from across the State, adding that present regime has played a pivotal role in introducing several innovative measures and policies for them so that they enjoy their lives like rich community. He said that Government has provided a financial assistance worth Rs.3.12 lakh under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) state subject beneficiaries for construction of their pacca houses. Earlier, the Minister visited Rajiv Nagar and inspected ongoing construction work of Rahim Nagar-Rajiv Nagar link road, deep drain besides construction work of nallah with slab facilities. He said that the projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 59 lakh. He said the locals to cooperate with the development agencies in completing the works within prescribed time frame. He called upon the people to make the area hygienic and pollution free.The Minister also visited the residence one Piyara Lal of Rajiv Nagar whose son namely Viki was killed due to road accident at Narwal yesterday. He also provided financial assistance worth Rs. 25000/-under Regional Red Cross Society for immediate help to the bereaved family.
