| Rain, gusty winds, hail likely in J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 22 : Gusty winds and hail besides light rain would occur during the next 24 hours in Jammu and kashmir , where sky remained cloudy today resulting in drop in the maximum temperature. A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that light rain and thundershower could occur at a few places over the state during the next 24 hours. Gusty winds along with hail may occur at isolated places in the regions. He said the minimum temperature was about one degree above normal this morning after one degree below normal maximum temperature was recorded yesterday. The sky would remain partly cloudy tomorrow with possibility of thundery development towards afternoon in the summer capital, Srinagar tomorrow. The famous ski resort of Gulmarg, main attraction of tourists and skiers from across the globe, was coldest in the Kashmir valley after the minimum again dropped to 0.2 degree this morning, three degrees below normal. Pahalgam, the base camp of Holy Amarnath cave shrine, and other parts of the Kashmir valley also recorded below normal minimum temperature this morning. There was also five degree drop in the minimum at Leh in Ladakh region, which remained cut off from the rest of the state since December Ist last year due to closure of the Zojila pass. However, the BEACON project, responsible for the maintenance of the highway has already cleared snow on the highway to put it through later this month. |
