| Centre-State focusing on under developed areas of state: Soz | | Several BJP activists join Congress in Rajouri | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kalakote/ Rajouri, Apr 22: President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Prof Saifuddin Soz-MP (former Union Minister) has said the focus of the centre and state governments is towards the backward and under developed areas of the state. He also said that Rajouri-Poonch would be connected with the railways in order to ensure overall development and economic boost to twin border districts. Addressing largely attended public meetings at Kalakote and Rajouri Prof Soz said that Rajouri-Poonch has lacked behind in various spheres of life because of its topography and lack of special focus. 'However, he said, "now the focus of the centre and state governments is towards the backward and under developed areas of the state. JKPCC (I) Chief Prof Soz said that during the recent visit of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to Rajouri, the demands for railways connectivity was raised before him and the same has received due attention and is being vigorously perused by him (Prof Soz) and the local Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma and the day is not far away when this would get railway connectivity. Underlining the Congress has always contributed a lot for the cause of the people, he said, "Congress party has always played a positive role to unite the people of different religions and regions, caste and colour, as secularism is the strength of unity and integrity of the state and the nation.' PCC Chief said that equitable development of all three regions of the state is the key to ensure unity and integrity of the state. Prof Soz who is on two days tour of Rajouri district, accompanied by Vice President PCC Thakur Hari Singh, MOS Shabir Ahmed Khan, MLC Ravinder Sharma-General Secretary & Spokesperson PCC, MLA Smt Indu Pawar-President J&K Mahila Congress, Manmohan Singh-Secretary PCC, Vice Chairperson OBC Board Kuldip Raj Verma, President INTUC Shiv Kumar Sharma, President NSUI Udhey Bhan Chib, Dr Rashid Choudhary and several other senior Congress leaders. Meanwhile at Rajouri a number of senior leaders of BJP alongwith their supporters joined Congress party in presence of senior congress leaders including JKPCC(I) Chief Prof Soz. Prominent among those who joined the party were Rajesh Gupta-President Vaapar Mandal Rajouri, Rakesh Mahajan-District President Rajouri, Sanjeev Mahajan, Ambroy Suri, Subash Gupta, Abdul Gaffoor, Molvi Younis and several others with hundreds of supporters. At Kalakote a largely attended public meeting was organised by Abdul Gani Kohli who put forth various demands of the tehsil Kalakote. Prof Soz asked his party ministers and Member Parliament to frequently visit this remote area and listen to the people and the party workers and solve their problems on priority basis. He announced installation of twenty (20) hand pumps to meet the demand of shortage of drinking water in the area. Minister for Health Shri Sham Lal Sharma assured the people that he will make special efforts to improve healthcare system in the area. Minister for Medical Education R S Chib announced Rs 10 lakh for the promotion of sports in this backward belt of the Rajouri while Member Legislative Council (MLC) Ravinder Sharma also announced funds for development of the area from his Constituency Development Funds. Other prominent who attended the meetings Babu Ram Sharma, Sain Rashid, Vinod Mahajan, Lovely Gupta, Ravi Singh Salathia, Narinder Gupta, Neeraj Gupta, Sanjay Sawhney, Amit Chib, Anoop Choudhary, Sanjeev Sharma, Kewal Kaul and others. |
