| Seminar cum debate on RTI organized | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA , Apr 22: People of Kathua organized seminar cum debate on Right to Information (RTI) here today which was followed by an interactive session at Kathua. People from all walks of life participated in the seminar and shared their views and opinion on the issue. While speaking on the topic Ankur Sharma gave a detailed account of historical philosophical and ideological significance of RTI, Advocate Sushil Gupta threw light on the legal background and importance of RTI. Ravinder Slathia, Bunty Bhola, Dheeraj, Varinder, Shagun Amit and others too spoke on the advantages and challenges of RTI while Prof Yog Dutt termed RTI as a total farce. He going ahead said it's a tragedy that people who believe that it will end their miseries. However Ankur Sharma said although RTI has some limitations but that doesn't mean it is farce. During the meeting it was also apprised that RTI application forms can be downloaded from the State Information Commission's website (jksic.nic.in). Advocate Sushil Gupta briefed the gathering and participants about the provisions of RTI Act 2009 as well as RTI Act, 2005. |
