Beig targets Farooq | | | Former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Husain Beig today lashed out at Union Minister for Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah for escaping from Jammu and Kashmir during turbulent times. Beig narrated an incident of massacre of Kashmiri Pandits in a valley village during militancy and an irresponsible statement of then Director General Police over the incident. "Militants captured a police post that was set up for protecting a village of Kashmiri Pandits. Holding the policemen captive, they asked one of the policemen to go in the village and ask all KPs to assemble in the village ground as Army had called them. The policeman, rather than going to the nearby army camp and informing them about the incident, abided by the dictates of the militants and brought the KPs along, who were later shot down by the militants" Beig narrated. "Next day when I asked the DGP A K Suri, as to why your policeman did not go to inform the Army and followed the dictates of the militants, he replied that they had to protect their own lives first" Beig said. "Such a reply could come from the DGP of a Chief Minister who himself had escaped from the state to take refuge in London during difficult times" Beig said. PDP after assuming power had sacked A K Suri and replaced him with Gopal Sharma as the new DGP. |
